Besides the Ring, would you have any recommendations for apps already available on the market to supplement?

you can use other tracking devices like a Fitbit or the one I use Whoop but if you want apps that do not need a device lmk to tell you because I am not sure if I answer your question correctly

Yeah, I was essentially looking for the most accessible and cheap way to effectively track one's sleep. I was curious whether just using a phone and it's microphone to track sleep patterns would suffice, really.

I've heard good things about the Whoop. It's just a shame it's subscription-based and not a one-off purchase

Yeah I find the data of the Whoop more consistent and trust worthy than the Oura but people normally use Oura because it looks more aesthetic than the Whoop band. If you have an Apple Watch you can use Pillow or Sleep Cycle but I don’t know if any ways of tracking sleep using a microphone and your phone, it would be interesting to track it with sound

Agreed. I'd, personally, pick the Whoop over the Oura too if I had to pick. The data and analytics are second to none. You should include it in your post as an alternative, especially if you use it personally.

There are some apps on the market that claim to track sleep just based on having your phone near you while you sleep so it can listen in and make interpretations based on that. Whether that's actually accurate and/or effective? I'm not sure.

yeah, that is good feedback I am going to go more in depth on sleep in the future.
