How to Optimize Your Water Quality & Intake for Health
Learn how to optimize your hydration in a daily basis
Let's dive into the world of hydration and the best types of water for the human body. We all know that water is essential for our health, but not all water is created equal. In this newsletter, we'll explore the benefits of different types of water and how to make sure you're getting the best quality water for your body.
First, let's talk about the different types of water. Tap water is the most common source of drinking water for many people, but it can be contaminated with chemicals and pollutants that are harmful to our health. Bottled water is another option, but it can be expensive and also have potential contaminants. Spring water is often considered the most natural and pure form of water, as it comes from underground sources and is typically filtered by nature itself.
However, even spring water can have impurities that are harmful to our health, which is why it's important to filter your water. There are many types of water filters on the market, including carbon filters, reverse osmosis filters, and ceramic filters. Each type of filter has its own benefits and drawbacks, but the most effective and widely recommended filter is a reverse osmosis filter, which removes up to 99% of impurities including lead, chlorine, and fluoride (1).
Now that we know the best way to filter our water, let's talk about how much we should be drinking. The recommended daily intake of water varies depending on a person's weight, activity level, and climate, but generally, experts recommend drinking at least 8 glasses (64 ounces) of water a day. Some experts recommend drinking even more, up to half your body weight in ounces per day (2).
In addition to drinking enough water, it's also important to make sure you're replenishing electrolytes, particularly if you're sweating heavily. Electrolytes are minerals such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium that are essential for proper hydration and bodily function. You can replenish electrolytes by drinking sports drinks or coconut water, or by eating foods such as bananas, avocados, and leafy greens.
Next week we are going to talk about sleep….
